Breast Reduction Surgery

If you are looking to reduce the size of your bust, then generally it is due to heavy breasts causing pain in your back, neck, or even shoulder. When considering breast reduction surgery, the overall goal will be to alleviate your pain but also give you a look that you will love. This is accomplished by reshaping the breasts to fit your body type.

For a successful procedure, it is important to wait until the breast are fully developed. It’s never a good idea to have a premature procedure before the time is ready. Thus, if you are younger, it might be a wise idea to wait a few years before considering this surgery. Additionally, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend waiting until you are done with both.

Smokers: As like any surgery, it is strongly advised that you do not smoke before or after your surgery.

About the Procedure

The number one priority when visiting BALV is to make sure your experience is seamless and relaxing. We understand that surgery can be overwhelming; Dr. Khorsandi makes sure to answer all your questions and concerns so that you are 100% aware of how breast reduction is conducted.

Dr. Khorsandi will use a general anesthetic; you will be sleeping during the procedure; thus, it is a painless experience. Once the surgery is completed, you will then be transmitted into recovery, where

Dr. Khorsandi and his surgical team will keep a close eye on you until you are discharged.
During your recovery period, our nurses will place drain tubes on your breasts. This is to avoid excess fluid to be held within your boobs.

Surgical Incision

It is an industry standard that three incisions are made when going through a breast reduction. Our goal is to have minimal scarring and scars that are hidden. Incisions are made around the areola and towards the bottom of the areola. The final incision is made on the breast crease.

There will be some pain associated as your body heals. Generally, patients who feel discomfort are prescribed pain reduction drugs to help during the recovery time. You will feel some swelling and bruising and you will slowly feel better as the days go by. Additionally, there are other treatments you can use for the scarring to reduce the length and appearance of the scar. You should expect your recovery time be from 10 to 14 days.

The consultation process is equally as important as the surgical process. During your consultation, Dr. Khorsandi will address your concerns and problems that have led you to consider reducing your breast size. As a patient, you will go over your desired size and Dr. Khorsandi will explain how he can accomplish your desired look. The ultimate goal of the consultation is to answer any and all questions to make sure you are comfortable throughout the process.

During the consultation, expect the following:

  • Assessment of your skin.
  • Measurement of your breast size
  • Examination of your breast and areola

Potential Risks

Risks during any procedure are subject to change on a patient to patient basis. During your consultation, Dr. Khorsandi will go over any risks that may occur during the surgery. In rare cases, loss of feeling on your nipples or specific areas around the breast may occur.

Sometimes nature gives a woman too much of a good thing. In this case the problem may call for breast reduction and if you’re living in the Vegas area you’ll find there are many choices in finding affordable breast reduction surgery.

Can My Health Insurance Cover Breast Reduction

Some women mistakenly look at breast reduction as something cosmetic and it may be considered such by an insurance company. It’s elective surgery unless a doctor has determined that such a reduction is necessary for the woman’s health and well being. Large breasts on a small frame woman can become tasking and if left unattended can cause curvature of the spine and other maladies. This is where the breast reduction surgery is called for for the health of the patient. None the less, it is still surgery and an extensive amount of examination, consultation, and application of the latest technologies will be employed.

If you’ve had a surgery gone wrong, then it is not a reduction you need, it’s actually a revision.
